The movie starts out in an old church, where
boxing matches are fought for not much money, and we get to see where Rocky
is at in his life. Rocky shows his aggression in the ring, by winning
a fight after he is cut by the opponent (Spider Rico). After the fight,
we see that Rocky does not make much money for his matches, which is why
he also works as a "collector" for a lone shark. Rocky is simple minded
and is actually content with his lifestyle. He longs for a relationship
with Adrian, who works at a local pet shop. Her brother Paulie is a
friend of Rockys, and he also has not made much of his life working at a
fish market. Rocky works out at Mighty Mickey's gym. Mickey is
an older fighter turned trainer, who is very outspoken, and constantly puts
down Rocky on how his life has turned out. Mickey knew Rocky's potential,
but believed he had become a "two-bit noth'n".
